Parting and staff bead replacement
Windows that are painted shut, stiff or loose are eased and adjusted. Worn or damaged parting and staff beads are replaced, or staff beads repositioned, so the sashes run freely.
Why choose Sash Restorer
-
Repair, not replace.
Original windows can almost always be saved. We keep as much of the old timber, glass and detail as possible.
-
Listed and heritage specialist.
Materials and methods suitable for listed buildings and conservation areas.
-
Clear, fixed-price quotes.
A written quote for the work set out, and the price won’t go up if the job takes longer than planned.
Questions
Is it worth restoring my windows rather than replacing them?
Usually, yes. Original timber is often better quality than modern softwood, and a restored window can last for decades. It also keeps the character of the house and is often required for listed buildings.
Is the price fixed?
Yes. The quote is a fixed price for the work set out, so it won’t go up if the job takes longer. The only exception is hidden rot that can’t be seen until the window is opened up. If we find any, we’ll stop, show you, and price the extra work before doing anything.
